With client cooperation we conducted a trial to demonstrate the cleaning and inspection combination of coated riser pipes taking marine growth off without any damage to the protective neoprene layer. The Splash Zone Scanner SZ200 was used on the test pipe with a 12 mm neoprene coating. The variable high-pressure nozzles were configured effective cleaning but not on marine growth only so the coating to remain total undamaged. This upfront study demonstrates the great potential for safe and effective offshore cleaning and inspection operation without risking sensitive coating.
